New York Snow

I'm sure you heard, we got a lot of snow today in NYC. Not as much as the last crazy storm a few weeks ago but enough to make my life difficult.

But it's not as bad as you'd think...it's actually easier to find good pee spots where dogs have already been (the whole yellow snow thing). And another great thing about city living - thanks to the doormen, all the sidewalks were clear before my morning walk!

Even the plows were out this time. Thanks Bloomberg!

The Holidays Are Official Over

It's sad to see all the Christmas trees line the block waiting for the garbage men with the rest of the trash.

It's a visual confirmation that the holidays are finished and a new year started.
But it's good for me because I have a whole bunch of new smells on my walk!

...which make it easier to do my business.

Some of you have asked how my owner knows when I'm peeing. It's very easy -

When I smell something interesting I start wagging my tail - that's how she knows to stay in the area.

Then, for some reason, when I start peeing my tail stiffens and goes straight up. It stays there until I'm finished.
Here's some video of me doing just that below...

The video quality isn't the best (it was pretty bright out) but you get the idea.

Christmas Shoes

One of our favorite neighborhood places is the shoe shop around the corner.

Lorenzo runs the place and we sometimes stop in and say hi on our walk. He's so nice and one of the favorites on the block. One day my owner was running out and her belt broke - she ran into Lorenzo's and he fixed it right on the spot - for free! And he lets me hang out with the guys getting their shoes shined.

Today we went in to pick up some "very important shoes" - some old boots from some designer, blah, blah, blah...what do I know, I'm a guy, but my owner seemed very excited.

She said Lorenzo was a "miracle worker." He's a great guy but, geez, it's only shoes! (Don't tell my owner I said that.)

Mon Petit-Dejeuner Special

Every once in a while my owner and I share a special breakfast treat.

We have been to many bakeries from very fancy to corner shops but the ULTIMATE croissant is at our corner Bread Factory. There's a bunch of them around town and they have the biggest, flakiest, most buttery croissants in the city.

I used to love going in there and smelling all the cakes and pastries but now they have this on the front door:

Sheesh! I was offended for a bit but I understand. I guess I'm spoiled in NYC because dogs are allowed almost everywhere - except for food establishments. But even then, if there's an outdoor seating area, I'm allowed to go.

So now my owner brings it home and we share. We don't eat croissants a lot but every so often, we indulge.

Hey, you only live once!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Not long ago we looked outside and saw a man at our bedroom window! (That's unusual because we're on the third floor.)

But then realized - it's Christmas time! Every year our block puts white lights on the trees for the winter season and the men were starting to string them up. It makes the street look so beautiful!

I decided to go downstairs and check out the process.

The finished product:

Very pretty!!

The view from our window.

It's so beautiful at night. It looks like thousands of little stars right over our apartment.

My Favorite Trip

Another nice day in NYC so we decided to head out early to stock up on my favorite treat.

So many choices! But I know exactly what I want...

Yea! There it is - my Dentastix!

Outside with my stash.

Lights, Camera, Action!

It was another beautiful day here in New York so we headed out to Columbus Circle.

Columbus Circle is on the west side of Manhattan - right on the southwest corner into Central Park. It's where I live and I love the area. The picture above was taken from the Time Warner Center, where we were yesterday.

A lot of people and dogs head there to enjoy the scenery, take a lunch break or just people-watch.

In front of the fountains...

...Posing like a tourist.

We noticed something happening on the other side of the circle. They were filming a movie called "Tower Heist."

We decided to get a closer look...

It stars Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Tea Leoni and Matthew Broderick and is about a group of guys who are victims of a rich guy's Ponzi scheme and decide to rob his apartment. (Found that out from the internet after we got home.)

They were filming a scene at a food cart - with Ben Stiller!

Ben talking to director Brett Ratner.

Watching on set.

Then we decided to go to Starbucks (of course) but I can't go in, which I really don't understand - have you seen some of the people in there??

Sitting in Columbus Circle enjoying a few drinks. Another nice New York City day.

A Special Treat

Today was so beautiful here in the city (65 degrees!) that we decided to enjoy the weather and head out for a special treat.

A few blocks away is the Time Warner Center - one of my favorite parts of the neighborhood.

The towers hold *pricey* apartments, offices and the CNN studios but it also has a group of some of the best restaurants in NYC. The first few floors is an indoor mall.

And on the 3rd floor is the delicious Bouchon Bakery...

...which was packed today!

It was a long line; I guess the good weather brought everyone out. But it was worth the wait...

The selection looked scrumptious, as always, but I just ordered my usual which is right up front by the register.

Foie Gras Dog Biscuits! My favorite! When I'm good I get it as a special treat.

And a treat for my owner, too!

Yuuuuummmmmyyyyyyy - fois gras. Lucky for me in NY the poochies eat as well as the people!

Today was a great day. Maybe tomorrow I can coax my owner into getting me some caviar!
